Soroti District, 24 July 2026 – Soroti District Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving public service delivery, nurturing sports talent among learners, and strengthening road infrastructure through a series of district activities conducted on 24 July 2026.

District Officials Emphasise Accountability in Service Delivery

Soroti District Local Government convened an engagement meeting with Sub-county Administrative Secretaries (SAS), Community Development Officers (CDOs), and Parish Chiefs to harmonise strategies aimed at improving service delivery across the district.

The meeting, organised by the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), focused on strengthening accountability, transparency, integrity, and teamwork in the implementation of government programmes.

During the meeting, the District Chairperson, Hon. Bob Owiny, emphasised the importance of accountability among civil servants, noting that government programmes could only achieve their intended objectives if public officers remained committed to their responsibilities.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajji Imran Muluga, urged district staff to perform their duties diligently and cautioned them against engaging in extortion during the implementation of government programmes, stressing that public resources should be managed with integrity.

The Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ssempala, reminded staff that effective service delivery remained the core responsibility of the civil service and encouraged them to remain committed to serving the people of Soroti District.

District Conducts Primary Schools Football Selection

The District Sports Officer supervised football competitions at Abelet Primary School, where primary schools from Gweri Zone B competed to select a team that would represent the zone at the district football championships.

The selected team will participate in the district competitions scheduled for 7 August 2026 at Aminit Primary School, an initiative aimed at promoting sports development and identifying young talent across the district.

District Leadership Monitors Road Works

Soroti District leadership also carried out a monitoring exercise on ongoing road works to assess progress and ensure compliance with the required construction standards.

The monitoring team, led by District Chairperson Hon. Bob Owiny, Resident District Commissioner Hajji Imran Muluga, Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Emmanuel Ssempala, and officials from the District Engineering Department, inspected several road projects across the district.

The roads monitored included the Osimian–Eria–Omulala Road (16 km), Asukut–Angiro–Abelet Road (5 km), and Abelet–Dokolo–Amukaru Road (8 km).

District officials noted that the monitoring exercise was intended to ensure timely completion of the projects, guarantee quality workmanship, and improve road accessibility for communities. They reiterated the district’s commitment to closely supervising public infrastructure projects to ensure value for money and enhance service delivery throughout Soroti District.
