KIKYO, Bundibugyo — Hon. Balaam, has applauded the management and staff of Kikyo Health Centre IV for their commitment to serving the community despite limited resources.

Hon. Balaam made the remarks during a visit to the facility in the Rwenzori region. He commended the health workers for keeping the centre operational 24 hours a day and for ensuring that all 15 core services remain free and accessible to the local population, as indicated on the facility’s notice board.

According to the facility’s charter, Kikyo Health Centre IV is guided by a vision “To have a community in which all people archive their potential for health & well-being across their life span in Rwenzori region” and a mission to be the leading provider of health services, life promotive, curative and palliative care to communities in the Rwenzori region.

The centre offers a comprehensive package including:

  1. Preventive Services
  2. Promotive Services
  3. Curative Services
  4. Out Patient Services
  5. In Patient Services
  6. Maternity Services
  7. Surgical Services
  8. Laboratory Services
  9. Blood Transfusion
  10. Ultra Scan Services
  11. Palliative Services
  12. Chronic Care Services
  13. Maternal & Neonatal Services
  14. Referral & Linkages
  15. Dental Services

The Health center emphasizes that “All Services Are Free” and that the centre operates 24 hours, with visiting hours set at 6:00AM-7:30AM, 5:30PM-7:30PM, and 1:00PM-2:00PM.

Despite the wide range of services and dedication of the staff, Hon. Balaam noted that the facility is grappling with a major challenge, inadequate beds to accommodate the growing number of patients, especially in the maternity and in-patient wards.

“The work being done here is commendable. The health workers are truly serving the people of Rwenzori with limited resources. The main issue raised is having few beds, which affects service delivery,” Hon. Balaam said.

The Minister pledged to take up the matter with the Ministry of Health to ensure that Kikyo Health Centre IV is considered for additional beds and further support to enhance its capacity.
